Announcement from Dr. Kurt Ellenberger
Dear Beaufort Pediatrics Family,
Time and change are constants which none of us can avoid, but offer opportunities we may not have considered. These opportunities require choice and often a leap of faith. I have reached one of these crossroads in my life. As some of you may or may not know, a pediatric hospitalist program begins this month at Beaufort Memorial. This position provides weekend coverage in the hospital for all the pediatric patients. I was offered this position. This spurred many long conversations with my family. In the end, after much soul-searching, I made the decision to move my career in a different direction allowing me to support my wife's career and spend more time with my family as my boys grow into young men.
However, the change is not without sadness as I will need to separate myself from Beaufort Pediatrics over the next few months. During the months of February and March, I will be in the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and in April I will only be in the hospital. I want to thank all of you who have allowed me into your children's and your family's lives. I am honored and humbled by the faith you have placed in me over the last 15 years. I have learned many more lessons from you than I have imparted. As I've told many of you in the past, you do all the "heavy lifting." We just hope to give that little nudge of encouragement when you need it. I take comfort in knowing you will continue to get the best pediatric care in Beaufort with my colleagues, my friends at Beaufort Pediatrics. Again, thank you for the privilege of allowing me into your families. Godspeed.
Dr. Kurt Ellenberger
